Mission The Mission of St. John's is to be the body of Christ with all called to be ministers, so that all people can grow toward unity with God and each other in Christ and participate in God's continuing work in the world. History The first services of the Episcopal Church in the small community of Dubuque took place sometime soon after November 1834 when the Rev. Henry Tullidge arrived at Grace Church, Galena, Illinois, as a missionary under the auspices of Grace Church, Providence, Rhode Island. He visited the surrounding country and villages from time to time and was the first to hold the service of the Church in Dubuque and Mineral Point, Wisconsin.
